For the first time since January I’ve had a quiet month of triathlon racing.  It’s been a really good time to get back into some consistent training.  I’m back into a build phase at the moment my training weeks have looked something similar to this: Monday  – 2 hour hilly MTB ride, 1hr 15 run with 30mins solid effort Tuesday  – 90mins swim, 2 hour ride with 3 x 10minute efforts,  90m hilly run Wednesday – 90mins swim, 2 hour steady run Thursday – 2 hour ride include 60mins endurance, 75mins run 3 x 5mins efforts Friday – 90min swim, Afternoon off Saturday – 90mins swim, 4 hour ride Sunday  – 2hr 15mins run, 60min swim I fit in around 2 gym sessions a week to work on core strength and balance. My coach sets my training sessions they are usually geared up to a set of races.  I don’t try to peak for anything in particular I just try to keep a consistent balance thought my busy race season.  I tend to work on heart rate I record all of my sessions on my Garmin.  I can then down load them to the PC so my coach Ken can see how I’ve been going. In between my sessions I try to get massage regular and stretch heaps to help prevent injury. Whilst I’ve been back home in Stoke I’ve  been catching up with my sponsors Internet Central, Royles, Power bar, Champion Systems and Schawalbe.  Unfortunately I’ve not had as much time with my family and friend as I would like.  It’s really important for me to keep in touch with my sponsors without their help and support my triathlon profession wouldn’t exist.  I’m currently looking for some funding or for a sponsor to help fund my trip to the World Xterra Championships in Hawaii so I’ve been a real busy bee contacting companies. To end on a good note I did do one race it was the Uttoxeter half marathon.  I was using the racing as training really but ended up winning and doing a 3 minute personal best time not bad for a training run he! http://www.thisisstaffordshire.co.uk/Athletics-Doha-bound-Jackson-track-gem-run/story-16031944-detail/story.html Next up Xterra Sardinia

My Sponsors…

I Just wanted to take the time to say thank you to all my sponsors.

Sponsors Internet Central

Internet Central have supported me for over 4 years now ever since I went to my first age group world championships in Lausanne.  I’ve come a long way since then and with out their continued support I would not be where I am today.  Internet central are a local company based in one of my favourite training grounds at Keele university.  They are extremely positive and excited to help out a local athlete and put Stoke on Trent on the map.  If anyone would like help with internet support along the lines of hosting, security, connections and internet centrals products please contact me or visit the website http://www.ic.co.uk/ .  They have done a super job of hosting my blog and website over the last few years and assisting with my internet and communication support.

Royles have supported me now for 2 years.  They are a Wilmslow based bike and triathlon store.  They sell all the best products in the cycling and triathlon world.  The staff are all athletes and know exactly what the customers want.  You will find the likes of Ben Fish and Jess Couslon in the running store who are both elite GB runners,  Nick and Jo are both endurance athletes in triathlon and running.  In the bike store they have the best mechanics who have previously worked world class cyclists including Mark Cavendish.  I’m also there helping out in the running shop when i’m not racing.  I can offer loads of advice about triathlon, training hints and tips and wetsuit fittings.  Royles have supplied me with the best top of the range bikes and triathlon gear I feel very proud to be representing them.

Champion System

Champion Systems supply all my training kit.  The kit can be designed to your liking.  The process of designing and ordering is the most simple and impressive system I’ve ever come across.  My gear was designed and delivered within 6 weeks.  It’s by far the best cycling kit I’ve ever had and lasts for ages.  I’m very happy to be sponsored by acompany that products quality clothing.

SCHWALBE

Schwalbe came of board this year they are famous for the Nobby Nics and the Rocket Rons.  They supply me with tyres and inner tubes both for MTB racing and road racing.  All I can say is the performance of the tyres is excellent and they have been 100% reliable since I started to use them.

Power Bar

Power bar have recently come on board too.  I’m over the moon to be a power bar athlete they are by far the best nutrition products on the market and offer a wide range.  The best thing is that the products taste great and do the job perfectly.  Love Power Bar thank you!

athlete matters logo

Athlete matters are based in Worsley, Manchester.  They have supported me for a number for years now and have helped greatly with injury prevention and recovery.  They offer great classes all aimed at helping athletes to be in the best shape possible.  They also have a reformer which is great for injured athletes and there road to recovery.  I drove to Manchester twice a week to use this piece of equipment and it’s made me a much stronger athlete I’ve not been injured since I started to use it.  Thank you guys you’re the best.  For more information visit the website  http://www.athletematters.com/
